These last two weeks I spent on the road with my husband and daughter traveling. I greatly enjoy my job that takes me around the world and allows me to now show it to my baby girl. We started our trip going to Coachella Valley (Palm Springs) and ended it in Lake Arrowhead. Desert to Mountains. Heat to snow. These changes are what makes me excited when I am packing my bags. Knowing that these extremes await me after just a bit of travel makes me giddy. I have gone to Mexico many times, Poland many times, Canada, England, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Scotland, Ireland, Czech Republic, Romania, all over the U.S. and many more places I'm sure I'm forgetting. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the cultural differences in each place as well as seeing how I have a heavenly Father who cares for and shepherds each of these very different groups of people in the way that they need to be cared for. After years and years of travel there is one thing that I know for sure...When my feet are pointed home I feel comfort, rest, peace, relief, and joy. I don't ever even know that I haven't been completely at rest while I am traveling but the second I turn my face again towards my home and start the journey back I can relax my shoulders and lay back my head and close my eyes knowing soon I will be there.
I have an aunt who has her feet pointing home. I'm not talking about her earthly home but her heavenly home. This makes me extremely sad thinking about her daughter, who is my age, husband, sisters and the rest of us who will be longing for her when she is gone. She is the type of person who lingers on your mind after she is out of the room because she is inherently good. She smiles with her whole face and laughs so that eventually you are laughing with her. She is a person that makes people feel better when she is around. I hope that she is feeling the rest that comes with finally heading homeward. She can lay back her head, relax her shoulders, uncurl her hands and close her eyes knowing that very soon she will be home. She will be with the Father and she will be smiling in His presence with a radiant heavenly face.
I love you Aunt Julie. Tell Jesus we are eager for His return.
